Residents in Cooper and six other area counties may receive calls for a workforce availability survey performed from February through April by the Docking Institute of Public Affairs.

Landline and cellphone numbers will be randomly selected from a sample in Boone, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, Morgan, Pettis and Saline counties. The calls are expected to last up to 10 minutes. Questions will include employment status, education, and skills, availability for a new or different job, desired wages, acceptable commute times and desired benefits.

Survey results will be delivered to Boonville officials and made available on the Docking Institute’s website at fhsu.edu/docking.

The institute has conducted similar surveys over the past 20 years to assess

The project will be led by Research Scholar Mike Walker with the Docking Institute and the Fort Hays (Kansas) State University Department of Sociology. He has conducted more than 200 labor studies and other surveys for the institute over the past 20 years, according to a news release issued by the institute.
