Seats are open for the Boonville City Attorney, wards one, two and three on the Boonville City Council, and two seats on the Boonville Board of Education.

There are five city positions and two school board seats up for election this April. The deadline to file is Tuesday at 5 p.m., and so far, only six people are have filed to run for the seven seats.

Everyone who has filed is an incumbent running for re-election:

Vanessa Dorman for another two-year term representing Ward Two on the city council

Whitney Venable for another two-year term representing Ward Three on the city council

The Ward Four seat currently held by Morris Carter is also up for election, but nobody had filed for that seat as of Thursday. Carter could not be immediately reached to see if he is running again.

Anyone interested in filing for the open city positions must file a declaration of candidacy and a $25 filing fee with the city clerk by 5 p.m. Friday at 401 Main St. You must have paid your city taxes and your user fees must be current.
