Enjoy apple, pecan and a healthy dose of brass at the 24th Annual World Famous Boonville Silver Pirate Band Concert and Pie Auction on Jan. 18.

Starting at 6:45 p.m. in the Laura Speed Elliott Middle School Auditorium, bands from David Barton Elementary, Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School, Laura Speed Elliott will play, capped off, of course, by the Boonville High School Silver Pirate Band. The bands will play a range of styles, from marches and overtures, to popular and swing music.

Col. Tim Deredinger of the Deredinger Auction Service will lead the pie auction, with proceeds going to fund the Boonville Band program. Money raised at last year’s auction went to buy new instruments and for scholarships for students to attend summer music camps. In past years, the auction has paid for equipment, new band uniforms, scholarships and travel meals for Boonville Band students, according to a news release.

Doors at Laura Speed Elliott will open for a $5 walking taco dinner at 5:30 p.m. Admission to the concert and auction is free.
