Nathan Garriott of Jefferson City has an extensive history of driving while his license was revoked or suspended.

A Jefferson City man was booked and taken to a hospital with minor injuries after his car flipped Sunday afternoon on Missouri Route 179 in eastern Cooper County.

Around 3:30 p.m., Nathan R. Garriott, 20, went off the right side of Route 179, south of Korte Road, between Interstate 70 and Wooldridge. Garriott overcorrected and his Chrysler Sebring went off the left side of the road and overturned, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash report.

Garriott was wearing a seat belt when his car crashed Sunday. He was taken to Cooper County Community Hospital in Boonville with minor injuries.

Members of Troop F arrested Garriott on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated on drugs and driving while his license was revoked. He had not been formally charged as of Wednesday afternoon.

Garriott has an extensive history of driving-related offenses in Missouri. He has pled guilty to driving while his license was revoked or suspended on three separate occasions, in 2016, 2017 and most recently in April. He spent two days in jail for the 2017 instance and five days for the April instance. He also faces another charge of driving while revoked in Boone County, where he is set to make a court appearance Jan. 29. He also paid a fine after he pled guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia in October 2017.
