After 18 years, Louise Bolin is retiring Louise’s Tea Room.
The Tea Room has been a fixture at Your Money’s Worth (YMW) for the past 18 years. YMW opened its doors two blocks south of its current location in the spring of 1995. Louise Bolin had one of the original booths. Five years later, Bolin opened Louise’s Tea Room serving
sandwiches, pie, soft drinks, and, of course, coffee and tea. It made it convenient for those who worked in the store as well as customers who wanted a little pie and coffee while shopping.
“I’m very sad, but very happy for her,” said Sandy Stock, owner of YMW. “She’s been a large part of our store for 23 years and is well-known for her home-made pies. We’re really going to miss Louise.”
YMW was honored to give Bolin a retirement party at the store on Sunday, March 18, where workers, friends, and shoppers could stop by, eat a little cake, and wish Bolin well.
But Bolin’s second retirement, her first was 50 years in food service, does not include long hours in a rocking chair. She still has plenty of church and nursing home activities to keep her busy. She also plans to keep her booth at YMW.
And to all her pie customers, “I’m still planning to bake pies.”
