Since the closing of Route B, some students in the Boonville R-1 School District have had longer wait periods on the school bus.
A week has already passed since bridge work commenced on Route B just south of Interstate 70.
“Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route. The project is scheduled for completion in late June,” a statement from the Missouri Department of Transportation stated.
With three weeks left of school, some of the bus routes had to change, giving some students a longer bus ride. Boonville R-1 Superintendant Mark Ficken said he was working with First Student to diminish the issue.
He noted at the last board of education meeting that he did not foresee a huge impact, perhaps making bus rides a little more than 30 minutes longer than usual. He was thankful the work was being completed during the end of the school year instead of in the middle of it.
