The dream of a new show arena at the Cooper County Youth Fairgrounds is being realized.

Construction of the new barn will start within a week since the materials are being delivered tomorrow.

“Harlan Builders are to have it erected within three days,” CCYF Board President Laurie Beach stated. “The Boonville FFA Preview Show will be the first event within the new facility on April 9.”

The new facility will be a vast improvement over the older facilities that have stood on the grounds for decades.

Inside this show barn will be the show ring with covered bleachers. This structure is projected to be a red iron structure building with open sides. The plans are for this building to be 90 X 225 X 14 feet. Structures like this can be used by many youths for at least 100 years. During the fair, this will be a wonderful facility for the youth. The other 50 weeks of the  year, this facility will be available to be rented as an event center for things such as a covered auction, livestock sale, large breed shows or sales, open beef/hog/ goat shows, indoor rodeos, club livestock shows, indoor horse shows and riding arena, 3D barrel racing, cowboy mounted shooting and anything else available.

A dedication ceremony is being planned for Wednesday, July 19, during the opening ceremony of the 2017 Cooper County Youth Fair, just before the Prince and Princess and Queen Contest.

During the off-season the building will be available for rent.
