BOONVILLE – The 45th annual Lions Club Radio Auction is coming up, and will be held on March 7 and 8 at W-K Ford.
Since the auction is a favorite event each year, the club is hopeful this year can be even better.
“In 2016 we raised approximately $8,000 and we spent approximately $8,000. Our main fundraiser of course is the auction but we also make a little profit from the sales of Lions Club Mints. The mints are available at the following business: Route B Café, 87 Diner, Bumper to Bumper, Savvy Seconds or the Palace Restaurant,” club president Gene Cummins stated.
Lions Club International focuses on sight and hearing preservation. The organization supports those programs with donations to LCIF, Leader Dog Program, Lions World School for the Blind, Mid South Sight, Saving Sight, and the collection of glasses to be distributed throughout the world and purchase of glasses for those in need locally.
Beyond that, the organization supports local projects including the Boonslick Prayer Breakfast, Katy Flyer, Girls and Boys State, Family Fun Day, BHS Post Prom, Scholarship at Boonville High School, National Fire Safety, Food Bank, Buddy Pack, Senior Center, Shriners, Adopt a Family at Christmas, Halloween Parade, Dictionary Project for third graders, Great River Council Cub Scout Pack 70, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, etc.
“As the treasurer for the Boonville Lions Club for over 30 years, I would like to say Thank You to everyone who gets involved with our auction and club,” Cummins stated. “If you have received our letter in the mail a Lions Club member will be contacting you soon regarding
your donation or if you would like to make a donation to the auction please contact me Gene Cummins at (660) 621-1902 or Bob Roach at firstname.lastname@example.org.”
