Boonville Police Chief Bobby Welliver gave updates of the department during last week’s monthly police board meeting.

“The Chevrolet Impala set-up is complete and the vehicle is in service,” Welliver stated of the newest vehicle.

Welliver also gave an update on officer cameras.

“We are still working to achieve linking the body cameras with the new in-car camera system. The delay is simply getting our IT Company in communication with Digital Ally the camera provider. Lt. Deckard is working to get this issue resolved. Both the in-car and body cameras are working but we need this final step completed to link them,” Welliver stated.

In new business, the department submitted an application, and has been approved, for a Local

Law Enforcement Block Grant through the State of Missouri. The grant will fund the purchase two in-car camera systems. The grant amount is $7,800.

“We hope to purchase two other units from other funds in the new budget. If we purchase all four cameras every uniformed patrol vehicle will be equipped with the new in-car system,” Welliver ended.
