High winds along with a thunderstorm on Wednesday evening, split a tree in the 800 block of Spring Street prompting the closing of the street near the intersection of Eight and Spring) so crews could remove the large limb.
Spring Street resident Maureen Gray was in her home when the incident happened. She said she first heard hail and then a loud noise. She looked out her front window and saw branches inches from her window glass.
Shortly, the Boonville Fire and Police Departments responded along with city crews ready to move the giant limb off of the street. It did not take crews long to tackle the situation, removing the limb before the next storm arrived.
The storm that caused the limb to fall, had rain that blew sideways because of the high winds that reached up to 42 MPH. The storm also brought with it .45 inches of water.
“I am glad the citizens reported to our office,” Cooper County Emergency Operations Director Candice Sorrell said.
As for Gray, she was just happy the limb did not do any damage to her home.
