Recently, a new Harley Park sidewalk was poured. According to Boonville City Administrator Irl Tessendorf, he had budgeted this project for three years, but he had difficulty making connections with a contractor to complete the work. Warmer temperatures in February allowed the city to complete the sidewalk, which allows people the ability to walk to the park instead of walking on Santa Fe Trail.
Main Street benches are currently being refinished as time allows. Currently the parks department are sanding down the slats and varnishing them.
Tessendorf also gave an update on the Morgan Street Lighting Project. Currently, the city is installing 3,500 feet of 15-inch culvert pipe that will carry the wiring to power the lighting. Ameren will install the wiring and lights that will line the street.
Boonville Parks employee Mark Strange has been diligently working on Harley Park’s Twillman Field, which has already seen sports action.
Overall, Boonville residents are urged to get out and start enjoying the park system, especially when the weather is warm enough for a picnic.
