New Franklin residents will vote on a proposed $3 million bond amount in the April 5 election. In fact, the bond will not raise the debt service levy, which will stay at .7002.
The proposition will include the addition of a new gym, lockers, lobby, parking lot improvements, front entries ADA accessible and security upgrades to New Franklin R-1 School.
Porter, Berendzen & Associates, of Ashland, have been given the task of being the architect firm for this project, which is due to begin in the fall of this year if passed. The date for completion is set to be either in fall of 2017 or spring of 2018.
This will be the first time in several years the school has seen such an extensive addition. In fact, the school has not been added onto since the construction of the elementary portion of the school.
Plans suggest the new gym will be located to the east of the current gym with an area that separates both gyms. Bleachers may be located on each side of the new gym, making more room available for seating.
Residents will vote on this measure on April 5.
