The Friends of the Library find an easy way to help Library Branch Supervisor Cathy Birk (far right) move empty boxes stored on the Upper Level of the Library’s soon-to-be new home on the Kemper Campus. The group consisting of Stella Rhode, Shane Rhode, Jane Lago, Nora Rhode, Mary Hummel, and Cathy Birk, cleared out the building in preparation for renovation work that is slated to begin on Monday, August 12, by general contractor GBH Builders, Inc. of Jefferson City. Funds continue to be raised to complete the first phase of the project, which includes the construction and renovation work, as well as the second phase to acquire furniture, fixtures, and equipment to furnish the building that will provide more than twice the square footage as the current building on Main Street.Photo provided by Mary Pat Abele
