Elayna Einspahr, a freshman at BHS, has been named artist of the month. The painting by Einspahr is a monochromatic portrait of Angelina Jolie. Boonville High School Art Teacher Dionne Murphy said Einspahr did an excellent job of creating a wide range of tints and shades and keeping them separated. “Her sketch of Angelina Jolie was also well executed,” Murphy said. Murphy added that Art I students painted monochromatic (one color) celebrity portraits using tempera paint. She said students chose a color and could only change it by creating tints and shades. Students also could not blend their colors, meaning they had to stop using a color every time they needed to go lighter or darker, commented Murphy.
