The LSE boys seventh and eighth grade basketball teams closed out the 2021 season on a positive note Thursday night at home against the Fayette Falcons, winning by the scores of 45-11 and 35-17, respectively.
The Pilot Grove girls basketball team notched its sixth straight win by beating the Sturgeon Bulldogs 62-36 in CAC action Thursday night in Pilot Grove. The Lady Tigers, 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the CAC, jumped out to a 35-11 halftime lead against Sturgeon and then outscored the Bulldogs 27-25 in the second half.
The LSE girls seventh and eighth grade basketball teams closed out the season on a winning note Thursday night in Fayette by beating the Lady Falcons by the scores of 33-23 and 34-23, respectively. In the seventh grade game, LSE led Fayette 12-11 at the half and then outscored the Falcons 21-12 in the second half for the win.
The LSE boys eighth grade basketball team outscored Marshall 24-6 in the first two quarters and never looked back, beating the Owls Wednesday night in Boonville 45-12. The Pirates, 8-6 overall, outscored Marshall in three of the four quarters and led 12-4 after one, 24-6 at the half and 41-8 after three.
Missouri football’s already impressive and record-breaking recruiting class got even better Wednesday on National Signing Day. DJ Wesolak, a four-star edge rusher from Boonville, signed to stay local with the Tigers.
The Boonville Pirates basketball team ran into what head coach Mark Anderson called a “buzzsaw” Monday night on the road against the Fulton Hornets. While facing possibly three teams in their district next year, the Fulton Hornets looked every bit as good as a top 10 team in Class 4 after beating Boonville 75-42.
The Boonville Pirates football team was once again well represented by the Missouri Football Coaches Association with eight players selected to the Class 3 District 5 All-District Team and two players named to the Class 3 All-State Team for the 2021 season.
The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team had three things happen on its way to beating the Fulton Hornets 57-34 Monday night in Fulton. Along with the 23 point win over the Lady Hornets, Boonville also notched its fifth straight win to improve to 6-1 on the season.
For the second time this season, the New Franklin boys basketball team came away victorious against the Slater Wildcats. Although the first came in the Glasgow Invitational Tournament the first week of December, the Bulldogs made it count again-this time in conference play-by beating Slater 56-37 Tuesday night in Slater.
The Boonville boys freshmen basketball team featured a balanced scoring attack in its home opener Monday night while leading Marshall from start to finish for a 42-30 victory. The Pirates, 2-3 on the season, opened the game with eight straight points against Marshall and led 9-6 after one.
