Pirates win on the road against Clinton, 71-60

“We still made our fair of mistakes-a few sloppy turnovers, a few missed rebounds, and a few defensive lapses-but we played well for large stretches of the game and shot it pretty well, which never hurts. It was nice to get a win after playing really poorly in our last game last Friday at Hallsville, and it was a game that scared me a little bit after our kids not physically being in school all week and after a fairly long bus trip. Jackson Johns played really well throughout the game, and we also got really good minutes from Caidyn Hazel, who scored a varsity career high eight points.”

Lady Pirates rally past Blair Oaks with big third quarter in TCC

The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team may have had its most impressive win of the season Thursday night on the road against the Blair Oaks Falcons. Although the two teams met earlier, with Boonville winning 56-49 in overtime in the third-place game in the Tri-County Tournament, the Lady Falcons had a chance to even the score in league play in Wardsville.

New Franklin girls win 62-60 overtime, Pilot Grove boys hold on against Bulldogs

The New Franklin girls’ basketball team showed no quit while trailing by 12 at the break Tuesday night in CAC action against the Pilot Grove Lady Tigers. Trailing 16-10 after one and 31-19 at the half, New Franklin battled back by outscoring Pilot Grove 33-21 in the final two periods to tie the game in regulation at 52-all.
