One minute stretch in the third quarter is all it took for the Boonville Pirates basketball team to succumb to the California Pintos Tuesday night in Tri-County Conference action at Boonville. Up until the late stages of the third period, Boonville had held its own against the Pintos down by just three (21-18) after one and tied 29-29 at the half.
Three things happened on the way to the Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team winning 64-61 over Eldon Monday night in Tri-County Conference action in Eldon. First, the Lady Pirates won the game to improve to 13-6 overall.
To say that Monday night’s game against the Glasgow Yellowjackets was a huge game would be a gross understatement for the New Franklin girls’ basketball team. With four games slated this week, the Lady Bulldogs not only needed this win to get off to a good start for the week but also for conference standing.
The Pilot Grove boys’ and girls’ basketball teams showed no quit Tuesday night while hosting the Glasgow Yellowjackets in a conference showdown in Pilot Grove. Although both trailed at times in the game against Glasgow, they both came away with huge victories with the Lady Tigers prevailing 47- 29 and the Pilot Grove boys winning 65-55.
The New Franklin senior Abby Maupin has had her ups and down this season for the Lady Bulldogs basketball team. But nothing compared to Tuesday night’s game against the Slater Wildcats as Maupin clipped the 1,000th point mark in her career while helping the Lady Bulldogs secure a 48-26 win.

But little did he know the Bulldogs would come out and run the gameplan to perfection while leading the Wildcats from start to finish for a convincing 61-23 victory.
Pilot Grove boys’ basketball coach Derek Skaggs used the word perseverance Saturday after the Tigers took down Community R-6 74-60 in a Central Activities Conference showdown. While the win improved the Tigers record to 7-12 overall and 2-4 in the CAC, Skaggs said his team dug themselves into a hole in the first and fought hard to climb out by the end of three quarters.
