The Boonville Pirates wrestling team had its ups and downs like any team this season. Although the Pirates finished 6-10 overall and 3-4 in the Tri-County Conference for the 2021-22 season, head coach Justin Hahn said the team had two seniors finish their careers the way they are supposed to and showed what is possible in the program.
After winning its first-ever state title in 2020-21 at 27-2 overall, many felt like the Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team would be at a crossroads after losing four starters to graduation. But it was just the opposite as Boonville closed out the 2021- 22 campaign at 16-8 overall and 6-1 in the Tri-County Conference under head coach Jaryt Hunziker.

Boonville Babe Ruth Rookie and Junior Babe Ruth signups will be held on March 12- 13 at Twillman field in Harley Park. On Saturday, March 12, signups will be held from 9 a.m.
The talks are over, at least for now. Opening day is gone, too, and now we’re forced to wait to see if we get any baseball at all.
The Cal Ripken League will hold tryouts for all leagues on Saturday, March 12 at the Cooper County Baseball Association (COCOBA) ball field. Midget League will start the tryouts at 10 a.m., followed by Minor at 1 p.m.

Beating a team twice is hard enough, but Monday night in the opening round of the Class 4 District 9 Tournament at Blair Oaks High School in Wardsville, the Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team had a chance to beat the Blair Oaks Falcons for a third time this season.
Even though the Boonville boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were playing in the district tournament at Blair Oaks High School in Wardsville on Monday and Tuesday, the opening day of spring sports hit the ground running with the first official day of practice on February 28.
