Boonville senior Luke Green knew from the moment he stepped on the floor at Central Methodist University during summer camp that he wanted to play basketball for the Eagles someday. As it turned out, green’s dream of playing for CMU became reality last week after signing a national letter of intent with the Eagles and head coach Matt Sherman.
The Boonville Pirates baseball team have had its share of tough losses so far this season. While losing to the Blair Oaks Falcons 2-1 in the conference opener Monday night at Twillman Field in Harley Park, the Pirates have now dropped three one-run games out of four.
The New Franklin baseball team may have played its most complete game of the season Monday night on the road by beating the Madison Panthers 24-0 in three innings. The Bulldogs, 3-2 on the season, scored all 24 runs in the first-two innings against Madison by plating 10 runs in the first and 14 in the second to win by the mercy rule.

As a three-time all-state selection in basketball as a member of the Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team, nobody probably did more for her teammates than senior Addi Brownfield. Not only did Brownfield excel in the classroom during her four year career at Boonville while earning academic all-state, but she also excelled on the basketball court under head coach Jaryt Hunziker.
Duke keeps winning games in the NCAA Tournament and Mike Krzyzewski keeps telling anyone who will listen, “It’s not the coaching.” There’s some evidence to suggest he’s right. For one thing, Duke relies almost entirely on freshmen and sophomores, which means his core group of players have only had so much time to soak up Coach K’s decades of gathered wisdom.
