The LSE boys and girls seventh and eighth grade track teams literally put its best foot forward Friday while hosting a five team meet at the BHS Sports Complex. While competing against Osage, Blair Oaks, California and Prairie Home, the LSE Pirates recorded a total of 17 first place finishes in the meet.
The Pilot Grove Tigers baseball team must be living the good life after picking up two wins over the weekend in the Sacred Heart Tournament in Sedalia against the Leeton Bulldogs and Cole Camp Blue Birds.
The rosters in Cal Ripken Major, Minor and Midget Leagues have been announced for the 2022 season. Although the season is still a month away, Cal Ripken President Mike Watts said the league is still accepting players, especially in the 7-8-year-old division.

Twelve area players, from three different classes, were recently selected to the annual KMZU Dream Team for the 2021-22 season. A total of 248 players in Class 1-6 were selected by coaches in the KMZU listening area.
The New Franklin baseball team threw everything but the kitchen sink at Prairie Home and Jamestown Friday night in a doubleheader at New Franklin. Although head coach Erich Gerding said he was just glad to be able to play under the sun, the Bulldogs took advantage of the opportunity by sweeping by the Panthers and Eagles 14-0 and 5-4, respectively.
The Boonville Pirates golf team continued its win streak Thursday at Hail Ridge Golf Course by beating the Mexico Bulldogs in a dual 192-209. The Pirates improved to 5-0 on the season.
Boonville Pirates baseball coach Greg Hough could see the writing on the wall while playing Hallsville to a 0-0 tie through 4 ½ innings Tuesday night at Twillman Field in Harley Park. After a one-run game Monday night against Blair Oaks and another two one-run games earlier against Capital City and Hickman, Hough had a feeling the Pirates were in for another close game against the Indians.
The Boonville Pirates golf team added another notch to its belt Tuesday night in the home opener against the Moberly Spartans at Hail Ridge Golf Course. While beating the Spartans by seven strokes 191- 198, the Pirates also improved to 4-0 on the season.
Boonville tennis coach Ryan Brimer said the team came away with a lot of things to work on after absorbing an 8-1 loss Tuesday night in the home opener against the Moberly Spartans. While dropping to 0-2 on the season, Brimer said he wants to see the Pirates be more competitive in their doubles matches.
