Take away the first-two innings Tuesday night on the road against the Eldon Mustangs and the Boonville Pirates baseball team could have easily been celebrating its fourth victory in five games in the Tri-County Conference.
Pitching and defense. That’s how New Franklin baseball coach Erich Gerding described how the Bulldogs won 12-0 in five innings Monday night at home against state-ranked Community R-6.
The Boonville Pirates C Baseball Team picked up a sweep Monday night at Twillman Field in Harley Park by beating the Mexico Bulldogs 12-1 and 3-2. The Pirates, 4-6 on the season, fell to the Bulldogs in a doubleheader just last week.
The Boonville Pirates golf team finished 11th out of 21 teams Monday while competing in the Sacred Heart Invitational at Sedalia Country Club. Boonville golf coach Rob Vander-Linden said unfortunately the Pirates did not play very well in this tournament.
The Pilot Grove baseball team knew if they were going to win the Central Activities Conference this spring, they would have to beat both Northeast of Cairo and New Franklin. Although the Tigers were perfect in conference play going into Tuesday night’s game, Cairo played flawless baseball for seven innings for a 5-0 victory.
The New Franklin baseball team could have easily packed its bags while trailing La Plata 4-0 after three innings Tuesday night in New Franklin. In a game that was originally scheduled to be played at La Plata, the Bulldogs found themselves hosting a game for the second straight home after beating Community the night before 12-0 in five innings.

Another brutal weather day is how New Franklin track coach Adam Quest described Monday’s Lowell Eaton Invitational at Harrisburg. With a total of 17 schools taking part in the relays, New Franklin boys and girls track teams finished with a total of nine place finishers in the top six.
