Opening day of the Cal Ripken 9-year-old Midwest Plains Regional Tournament in Boonville had a little bit of everything on Friday. With four games in eight hours at the COCOBA Field at Harley Park, the Boonville 9 All-Stars emerged as one of the early favorites after beating Centennial, Colorado 14-1 in the final game on Friday.

The Cal Ripken 9-year-old Midwest Plains Regional Tournament kicked on Thursday night with opening ceremonies, ceremonial first pitch by Mark Strange and games for the players and coaches. Eight teams from four states will participate in the three day tournament in Boonville with the winner to move on to the Cal Ripken World Series in Treasure Coast, Florida on August 1-6.

The second day of the Cal Ripken 9-year-old Midwest Plains Regional Tournament was pretty much like the first day with Boonville winning both games to finish pool play undefeated in three games. After pool play on Saturday, Boonville stood as the only undefeated team at 3-0.
