It took a walk off sacrifice fly by Pilot Grove junior Alec Schupp in the 10th inning to seal a 11-10 win over the Sturgeon Bulldogs Tuesday night CAC action in Pilot Grove. The Tigers, 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the CAC, led Sturgeon 3-1 after the first inning in a tight game throughout which saw the Bulldogs rally back with three in the top half of the second to go up 4-3.
The LSE girls’ volleyball teams fell in its season opener back on September 8 against the Eldon Lady Mustangs, with the seventh grade losing in two straight 25-5 and 25-6 and the eighth grade team dropping two 25-8 and 25-11.
The LSE Pirates seventh grade football team continued its run for a perfect season Tuesday night on the road by beating the Hallsville Indians 40-0. As for the LSE Pirates eighth grade team, they had their second tie of the season in as many games against Hallsville with both teams scoring a total of six points.
The Prairie Home Panthers baseball team had a tough game Wednesday on the road by losing to the Crocker Lions 16-0 in three innings. While the loss dropped Prairie Home to 0-6 on the season, head coach Dustin Ray said this game did not go as planned.
The New Franklin high school and middle school cross-country teams had a busy weekend at Father Tolton and then followed it up with a meet Monday at Salisbury. In the high school meet at Father Tolton, freshmen Stella Matyas placed 45th out of 117 runners in a time of 24:58.70.
The Ss. Peter & Paul girls seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams recorded wins in two straight sets to beat the Marshall Lady Owls in the home opener Wednesday night in Boonville.
The Boonville Pirates soccer team saw a plethora of opportunities fall by the wayside Tuesday night on the road against the Battle Spartans. Although the Spartans eventually pulled away in the second half for a 5-0 victory, Boonville was very much in the game for the 40 minutes while trailing by three goals.
The New Franklin Bulldogs baseball team scored just enough runs Tuesday night at home to beat the visiting Prairie Home Panthers for a 2-0 victory. Although both pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts in the game, the Bulldogs had just enough offense in the second inning while plating two runs to record their seventh straight win of the 2022 fall season.
Boonville senior quarterback Colby Caton couldn’t forget last year’s 36-30 loss on the final game of the regular season to the Hallsville Indians. While the win by Hallsville gave them their first conference championship in the Tri-County Conference, Caton said he had this game circled on the schedule since the start of the season.
If Pilot Grove girls’ softball coach George Monk had any concerns going into the game Thursday night against Glasgow, they were answered in the first-three innings. While playing the Lady Yellowjackets close last year, Pilot Grove left little doubt Thursday night with 10 unanswered runs in three innings for a convincing 12-2 victory.
