Boonville boys’ soccer coach Alec Adair was looking for growth and the players gaining more confidence with each match over the weekend while competing in the Moberly Spartan Invitational. While the Pirates finished the tournament at 1-1-1 overall, Adair said he was happy with how the tournament went.
The LSE Lady Pirates seventh and eighth volleyball teams fell in two straight sets Thursday night against School of the Osage in Boonville. While the eighth grade team lost in two sets 12-25 and 10-25, the seventh grade team had a little better luck in terms of scoring while dropping two straight 1425 and 17-25.
The Boonville boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams competed in one of the most challenging courses of the season not to mention toughest from a runner standpoint on Saturday in the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia.
The Boonville Lady Pirates golf team was back at it Tuesday while competing in the California Invitational at California Country Club and once again the Lady Pirates finished first overall with another record setting day for an 18 hole tournament. With a total of eight schools participating in the tournament, Boonville beat arch-rival Osage for the first time this season 336-343.
Boonville girls’ softball coach Christie Zoeller said errors took the Lady Pirates completely out of the game Tuesday night in a 15-7 loss to the Battle Spartans. While dropping to 8-10 on the season, Zoeller said the team committed a total of nine errors and there is simply no way to come back from that.
The Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team is getting closer to putting it all together. Although the Lady Pirates fell in three sets on the road against the Fatima Comets Tuesday night 21-25, 2426 and 21-25, head coach Brittney Lowe said the girls did a lot of things right as a team and fought hard.
The Pilot Grove baseball team broke a 1-1 tie after 2 ½ by outscoring Jamestown 8-6 for the rest of the game for a 9-7 win Tuesday night in Jamestown. The Tigers, improving to 9-1 on the season, scored three runs in the third and five again in the fifth to lead the Eagles 9-5 after five.
The Boonville Lady Pirates tennis team picked up its second win of the season Monday night at home by beating the Knob Noster Lady Panthers 6-3. The Lady Pirates, 2-6 on the season, recorded wins in four out of the six singles matches and then came back to post wins in two out of three doubles matches.

Dedicated American Red Cross workers have been providing critical aid to wildfire evacuees and are now assisting those in Puerto Rico and Alaska.
The LSE girls seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams fell in two straight sets Monday night against Blair Oaks in Tri-County Conference action at Boonville. In the seventh grade match, Blair Oaks defeated LSE 25-11 and 25-15.
