Boonville senior Emma Neidig faced an uphill battle Saturday while facing Helias’ Sam Schlacks for the championship in the Class 1 District 8 Tournament in Jefferson City. Down 4-1 in the first set against Schlacks, Neidig battled back to win the set by a score of 7-5 and then took the second set 6-2 to capture her second district title in as many years while improving to 21-2 on the season.
The LSE and Ss. Peter & Paul girls seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams managed a split Thursday night in a cross-town rivalry at LSE.
New Franklin’s Brynn Belstle came up big at the right time for the Lady Bulldogs Thursday night in a crucial conference game against Pilot Grove. With first place up for grabs barring a Pilot Grove win and New Franklin loss, Belstle would have nothing to do with the Lady Tigers pulling off the upset at New Franklin.
The New Franklin baseball team was perfect for 12 games until Friday night’s matchup against the Pilot Grove Tigers. In a battle of two CAC teams, the Tigers once again found a way to knock off the Bulldogs for a 4-1 victory.
The Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team showed no quit in the fight Thursday night while hosting the Fulton Hornets. After a three set win earlier in the week against the Mexico Lady Bulldogs, Boonville made it 2-0 for the week and two straight three set wins by beating Fulton 25-17, 25-15 and 25-21.

The Boonville Lady Pirates golf team had the perfect ending to the regular season Thursday night on the road against the Marshall Lady Owls. With only the Boonville Golf Tournament left on October 6 at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, the Lady Pirates left little doubt against Marshall with a 31 stroke difference 187-218.
Boonville boys’ soccer coach Alec Adair knew his team had a chance Thursday night at home against the Stover Bulldogs at the Boonville City Soccer Fields. With a strong finish over the weekend in the Moberly Invitational, Adair felt his team had a little momentum going into the game against Stover.
