All Boonville soccer coach Alec Adair wanted was a chance Tuesday against Missouri Military Academy. After giving up the game’s only goal in the first half at the 26 minute mark, Adair felt the Pirates still had a chance to win the game with 40 minutes left to play.
The Boonville Lady Pirates golf team finished Tuesday’s state tournament at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar right where the started after Day 1: third place. After facing a high temperature of 49 and wind on Monday, the Lady Pirates came back with a little better day on Tuesday as the temperatures reached a high of 51.
New Franklin’s Stella Matyas finished 29th out of 71 runners in a time of 25:11 while competing in the Robert Kelsey Invitational Monday in Salisbury. Matyas will compete next in the Class 1 District 3 CC Meet on October 29 at Fulton High School.

The Boonville Pirates JV football team fell short in the season finale Monday night against the Higginsville Huskers at Gene Reagan Field 20-8. Although the Pirates were originally scheduled to face Versailles on Monday, the Tigers had to cancel the game due to low numbers.
The Pilot Grove girls middle school basketball team outscored St. Andrews of Tipton 18-0 in the first half and never looked back for a 30-8 win Tuesday night in Pilot Grove.
The Boonville Pirates football team may have lost the battle Friday night on the road against the winless Versailles Tigers 21-20. But if you consider that Boonville beat Versailles in almost every statistical category except on the score board, it makes it even harder to swallow knowing that the better team may have let one get away.
