The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team continued its offensive struggles in the Centralia Tournament Wednesday night by losing to the Macon Tigers in the consolation semifinals 51-45. The Lady Pirates, dropping to 2-3 on the season, trailed Macon 16-13 after first period’s end before rallying back with a 8-5 advantage in the second quarter to go up at the half 24-18.

Marci Lammers scored a game-high 21 points, and teammate Emma Sleeper tossed in 10 as the Pilot Grove girls’ basketball team defeated Sturgeon Wednesday night in the Pilot Grove Classic. The Lady Tigers, 5-0 on the season, outscored Sturgeon 31-19 in the first half and then came out slow in the third quarter as the Lady Bulldogs rallied back with a 10-7 advantage.
The New Franklin girls basketball team gave it a good run Saturday in the championship game of the Glasgow Invitational Tournament. While playing top-seeded Cairo for the title, the Lady Bulldogs fell against the Bearcats 61-35.
Boonville Pirates wrestling coach Justin Hahn said there were plenty of positives Thursday night in a quadrangular meet at Versailles. While the Pirates finished 1-2 on the season in duals against Versailles, Buffalo and North Callaway, the Lady Pirates were a perfect 3-0 and are now 5-0 on the season.
LSE 8th boys fall in fifth place game against Centralia The LSE girls’ eighth grade basketball team captured the third place trophy in the Centralia Tournament on Thursday by beating the Mexico Lady Bulldogs 42-15. The Lady Pirates, 5-3 on the season, jumped out to a 31-5 halftime lead against Mexico and then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 11-10 in the second half.
The Ss. Peter & Paul girls eighth grade basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season by turning back Columbia Independent Friday night in Columbia 49-10.
