The Boonville boys ninth grade basketball team finished seventh in the Mexico Freshmen Tournament on Saturday by beating the Hannibal Pirates 53-18. Boonville, 3-2 on the season, dominated Hannibal from the opening tip and took a 16-4 lead after one and a 21-11 advantage at the half.
The LSE boys seventh grade basketball team captured the championship in the California Tournament by beating California’s B-team on Saturday 45-24. The Pirates, 8-0 on the season, outscored California’s B-team in all but one quarter and led 12-6 after one, 30-8 at the half and 36-13 after three quarters of play.
The LSE wrestling team had its best finish of the season Saturday in the Carrollton Tournament with five first place finishers and five second place finishes. LSE wrestling coach Christian Stock said a total of 17 teams and around 250 wrestlers were present for the tournament.

The Boonville boys’ ninth grade basketball team dropped its second game in the Mexico Tournament Wednesday night, losing to the Moberly Spartans 38-37. The Pirates, 3-2 on the season, trailed Moberly by just one (1514) at the half before rallying back with a 19-12 advantage in the third quarter to go up 33-27.
