Boonville Pirates basketball coach Mark Anderson said he didn’t know if there was a big difference between the first half and the second half Thursday night against the Moberly. While the Spartans dominated the firsttwo periods to lead Boonville by as much as 15 points, the Pirates pretty much owned Moberly in the second half while holding the Spartans to a total of 11 points for a 46-41 victory.
All Boonville Lady Pirates basketball coach Jared Runyon wanted Thursday night against Moberly was a chance. With the Lady Spartans coming into the game at 5-1 overall and possibly two of the best players in the NCMC, Runyon knew that in order for Boonville to win the game they would have to play well both offensively and defensively.
The BPH girls’ basketball team broke a 26-26 tie at the half by outscoring Slater 21-16 in the second half for a 47-42 win Friday night in the opening round of the Otterville Tournament. The BPH girls and Slater opened the first quarter with 16 points each and then put in 10 points apiece in the second period to tie the game at 26-all.

The Pilot Grove girls’ basketball team had to work overtime Thursday night on the road while pulling out a 54-51 win against the Sturgeon Bulldogs in CAC action. As for the Pilot Grove boys, they fell in a close game against Sturgeon 43-41.
The LSE girls’ seventh and eighth grade basketball teams dropped two games Thursday night at home against the Fayette Lady Falcons 24-20 and 39-28, respectively. In the eighth grade game, the Lady Pirates 17-10 trailed at the half but rallied back with a 10-6 advantage in the third quarter to cut the lead to three at 23-20.
The LSE boys’ seventh and eighth grade basketball teams led Fayette from start to finish Thursday night on the road to win 5322 and 71-16, respectively. In the seventh grade game, the Pirates jumped out to a 30-14 halftime lead against Fayette and then outscored the Falcons 23-8 in the second half.
Since the season opener against Harrisburg back on November 22, the Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team have played in gyms other than their own. So naturally when the Lady Pirates got a chance to host the Fulton Hornets Tuesday night, they took advantage of it in the best possible way while leading for 30 of the 32 minutes for a 63-46 victory.
