New Franklin boys rally past Stover with big second half to win 64-37

The New Franklin boys’ basketball team had what head coach Jim Schlotzhauer called the “poorest” showing of the season Monday night on the road in a 64-37 win over the Stover Bulldogs. Although the Bulldogs wound up pulling away in the fourth quarter for the 24 point win, the first half was anything but a blowout as Stover jumped out to a 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter only to have New Franklin rally back with a 15-8 advantage in the second period to tie the game at 23-all.

Caton, Johns and Ellison head all-state football team in Class 3

If you ask Boonville Pirates football coach Greg Hough on the three all-state selections by the MFCA (Missouri Football Coaches Association), seniors Colby Caton, Jackson Johns and Tyson Ellison all did amazing things this season and over their careers. While all three were captains for the Pirates football team, Hough said they were also all-conference, all-district, academic all-state and all-state players.

Pirates drop conference opener against Eldon, 75-61

Boonville Pirates basketball coach Mark Anderson used the terms “pretty miserable” when describing Tuesday night’s 75-61 loss on the road against the Eldon Mustangs. After winning the night before at home against Oak Grove, Anderson felt the Pirates had a good chance to win their conference opener as well not to mention pick up a third straight victory going into the final game of the 2022 season on December 29 against Macon in the MAAC Holiday Shootout in Moberly.
