The New Franklin girls’ junior varsity basketball led BPH from start to finish for a 39-23 win Thursday night in Prairie Home. The Lady Bulldogs, 3-3 on the season, outscored, BPH in all four quarters and led 9-4 after one, 17-11 at the half and 24-17 after three quarters of play.
The Pilot Grove boys’ and girls’ basketball team dropped two big conference games at home Friday night during Homecoming by losing to the Cairo Bearcats 8138 and 67-44, respectively. The Lady Tigers, dropping to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in the CAC, trailed Cairo from the opening tip as the Lady Bearcats led 24-8 after first period’s end, 36-19 at the half and 51-32 after three quarters of play.
Tigers return to Mizzou Arena on Wednesday, hosting two-straight top-15 teams Gainesville, Fla. – A second-half run lifted Florida over the 20thranked Missouri men’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon, 73-64.
The New Franklin boys’ basketball team picked up its 14th win of the season and remained unbeaten in the Central Activities Conference at 4-0 by turning back Community R-6 Friday night at Puckett Field House in Fayette 77-44. The Bulldogs outscored Community in all four quarters and led 20-8 after one, 3523 at the half and 5536 after three quarters of play.
The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team had no trouble with effort and intensity Thursday night while hosting the Versailles Tigers in Tri-County Conference action. The problem wasn’t even scoring as Boonville put up 31 points in the second half.
The BPH boys’ and girls’ basketball teams picked up two wins on the road Friday night by beating the Jamestown Eagles in CCAA action by the scores of 55-28 and 52-38, respectively. The BPH girls, 8-8 overall and 1-0 in the CCAA, led Jamestown 12-9 after first period’s end but was outscored 13-11 in the second quarter to make it a one point ball game at 2322.

For Boonville wrestlers Gabe Gander and Raven Taylor, the annual Chillicothe Invitational Tournament was more than just a tournament. With 15 teams competing on the boys side of the bracket and 11 for the girls, Boonville head coach Justin Hahn knew it was going to be tough for the wrestlers-especially since the tournament consisted of 16-man brackets.
