After playing perhaps their best half of the season Friday night in the fifth place game against Warrenton, the Boonville Pirates basketball team had what head coach Mark Anderson called a bad quarter in the fourth while scoring only six points in a 63-50 loss.
If the BPH boys’ basketball team could play Jamestown every game during the season, the Panthers/Dragons may very well be undefeated under head coach Trever Huth. While picking up their third straight win against the Eagles Friday night during Homecoming in Bunceton 49-34, the BPH boys also improved to 6-15 on the season.
The New Franklin boys’ basketball team moved one step closer to winning the league title Friday night after beating a red-hot Cairo squad in Cairo 74-66. The Bulldogs, 20-2 overall and 6-0 in the Central Activities Conference, trailed Cairo 16-14 after one and 35-30 at the half before rallying with a 20-16 advantage in the third quarter to cut the lead to one at 51-50.

The Pilot Grove Lady Tigers basketball team had a chance Friday night on the road against Community R-6. With the CAC title still up for grabs, the Lady Tigers may have let one slip away against Community in a 44-43 loss.

The Boonville Pirates Athletics Department will host the First Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, June 26 at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville. While this tournament is continuing the Pirate tradition of the Gene Reagan Tournament, Boonville Athletic Director Gary Baker, organizer of the event, said golfers can either pay $100 per player or $300 per team.
Starkville, Miss. – The Missouri men’s basketball dropped a 63-52 decision at Mississippi State on Saturday. The Tigers, who had their three-game winning streak snapped, are now 17-6 on the year and 5-5 in SEC play, while the Bulldogs improve to 15-8 and 3-7 versus league foes.
