The Boonville Pirates wrestling team couldn’t have asked for a better finish Saturday while competing in the Class 2 District 2 Tournament at Mexico High School. With eight of the nine wrestlers moving on to the second day of the tournament, the Pirates had an even better finish in the medal round on Saturday by going 3-for-3 in third place matches to send three on to the state tournament on February 22-23 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team wanted to make a statement early on Friday night against the Southern Boone Lady Eagles. With the Lady Eagles unbeaten in the Tri-County Conference leading up to game at 6-0, Boonville had a chance to play the role of the spoiler on several fronts against SBC.

The Boonville Pirates basketball team had one of those games again where they could taste victory but couldn’t close in the final minutes of the ball game Friday night on the road against Southern Boone.
The Boonville boys’ and girls’ junior varsity basketball teams dropped a pair of games on the road Thursday night in Ashland, with the Lady Pirates losing to Southern Boone 54-27 and the Pirate boys falling 53-39. The Lady Pirates, 3-9 on the season, trailed Southern Boone 14-4 after one and 30-17 at the half.
