Boonville boys track coach Ryan Lyons had one word to describe the Pirates for the 2023 season: excitement. With 33 athletes suited out for the upcoming season, nine of which are returning letterwinners, Lyons said the team will have many new, young sprinters and throwers out this season joining an experienced group of mid-distance, distance runners that will allow the team to compete at a high level and build a solid foundation for the future.
Boonville girls track coach Melissa Baker has two words to describe the 2023 Lady Pirates track team: Untapped potential. With 23 girls suited out for the upcoming season, 12 of which are returning letterwinners, Baker said the team chemistry has been encouraging towards each other.
The Boonville Lady Pirates soccer team may look totally different entering the 2023 season. With 29 girls suited out for the upcoming season, eight of which are returning starters and 14 as returning letterwinners, head coach Alec Adair said the girls are really looking to build on the progress they made toward the end of last season.

While some parent organizations hold bake sales as fundraisers, the Laura Speed Elliott Middle School Partners in Education went a different route to raise money for their association. PIE at LSE Middle School is a group of parents, teachers and staff, as well as community members who are invested in students at the middle school.
With the 2022-23 basketball season coming to close for Boonville in the district tournament, coaches and athletes have now turned their attention to the spring season in baseball, tennis, soccer, track and golf.
Two of the top teams in the CCAA Conference also had the No. 1 players voted on by the coaches for the 2022-23 season.
Six student-athletes were selected as Pirate Award Winners Friday night during the Boonville Winter Sports Banquet at Boonville High School. Selected as Pirate Award winners during the 2022-23 season were: Jackson Johns, boys basketball; Abby Pulliam, girls basketball; Xavier Flippin, boys wrestling; Carlie Kusgen, girls wrestling; Kailey Biesemeyer, cheerleading; and Mabry Caton, dance.
