Pirates finish 1-1 in bonus games

The Boonville Pirates baseball team finished 1-1 in bonus games on Saturday at Twillman Field in Harley Park with a 7-0 win against Mexico in Game 1 and a 8-5 loss to Eugene in the second game. While the Pirates may have played one of its best games of the season against Mexico, head coach Fred Smith said in the second game against Eugene the players reverted back to taking bad approaches at the plate.

New Franklin finishes 1-1 in bonus games

New Franklin baseball coach Erich Gerding described Saturday’s bonus games as a tough day after finishing 1-1 with a 20-5 loss to Salisbury and a 12-6 win over BPH (Bunceton/ Prairie Home). Although the loss against Salisbury-a district opponent-was the tougher of the two, Gerding said the Bulldogs had too many non-competitive pitches and pitching behind the count.

Pirate golfers shoot season-low 172 in win over Mexico

Espey cards meet medalist honors for the third match in a row The Boonville Pirates golf team had its best outing of the season Wednesday night in a dual against the Mexico Bulldogs at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville. While beating the Bulldogs by 12 strokes, 160172, the Pirate golfers also had the meet medalist as sophomore Zack Espey captured his third straight honor with a career low 2-under par 33.
