To say the New Franklin baseball team picked up its biggest win of the season Thursday night against the Cairo Bearcats would be a gross understatement. In a battle for first place in the CAC, New Franklin scored the only run of the ballgameinthetophalfof the fifth to beat Cairo 1-0.
With opening day in Cal Ripken Major, Minor and Midget a little over a month away, managers and coaches finalized their rosters for the 2023 season with a draft last week. Opening day in Major and Minor will be held on Saturday, May 6 at Harley Park, while the first day of Midget League will begin two days later on Monday, May 8 at the Midget League Field at Kemper Park.
Boonville Babe Ruth is still accepting signups for the Junior Babe Ruth League (ages 13-15) and machine pitch for Rookie League (ages 5-8). The cut off date for signups is Monday, May 1st.
The Boonville Pirates baseball team will be joining the American Cancer Society in HOPE AT BAT to help raise money and knock out cancer out of the park. By supporting the American Cancer Society and Hope At Bat, baseball and softball teams are helping further the efforts of top researchers working tirelessly to make an incredible difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families by finding innovative ways to diagnose and treat this disease.
The Boonville boys 4 x 400 meter relay team showed what it takes to be successful Thursday during the Joe Shy Relays in Chillicothe. Going up against some of the best schools in the state, the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Eli Stock, Hayden Williams, Cash Leonard and Ross Brackman continued its dominance by placing first with a personal record time of 3:38.92.
The 9th Annual Boonville Masters Tournament lived up to its billing as one of the best tournaments in mid-Missouri. With 13 schools participating in the tournament Thursday at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, head coach Rob VanderLinden said this tournament had multiple state champions and team champions participating.
Zaiden Walker captured the only first place finish for the LSE boys track team Monday at Higginsville and in the process broke a school record in the high jump with a jump of 5’-5” against a field of 19 teams.
Molly Davidson finishes with two goals The Boonville Lady Pirates soccer team had reason to celebrate Tuesday night after blanking Sacred Heart/ La Monte 5-0 at the Boonville City Soccer Fields. Not only did the win put the Lady Pirates over the .500 mark for the season at 5-4 overall, it was also the first win at home in almost two years for Boonville.
New Franklin senior Kelsi Fair finished first in the shot put with a toss of 35’-3 ½” to lead the Lady Bulldogs in the Eaton Relays Thursday at Harrisburg. New Franklin track coach Adam Quest said the Harrisburg Eaton Relays was perhaps overall the best meet of the year so far.
