Boonville freshman Effie Morris went into Saturday’s Class 3 District 4 Track Meet expecting the unexpected. With the top four moving on to the Class 3 Sectional Track Meet the following weekend at Mexico High School, Morris had little idea of what to expect in her first year of high school track.
The New Franklin, Prairie Home and Pilot Grove track teams were well represented at the Class 1 Sectional 1 Track Meet Saturday at New Haven High School. With the top four in each event moving on to the Class 1 Missouri State Track and Field Championships at Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School on Friday and Saturday, May 19-20, the New Franklin boys and girls qualified for state in a total of five events while Prairie Home qualified in three events, and Pilot Grove in two.
