Boonville winter teams begin preparations for 2023-24 season

With the first official day practice in wrestling and boys’ and girls’ basketball at Boonville, one can’t help but think of the possibilities for the 2023-24 season.Although some may be in a rebuilding year while others have higher aspirations such as a state title, Boonville’s Justin Hahn, Jared Runyon, and Mark Anderson gave their insight on how the first day of practice went for their teams.With the boy’s wrestling team opening with practice one week later than the girls, Hahn said eight participated on the first day of practice in the high school wrestling room but noted that 12 had originally signed up to compete this season.For the first day of practice, Hahn said stance, footwork and half nelson were some of the things the girls worked on Monday.

Turner, Nichols named to TCC All-Conference Volleyball Team

With the 2023 season ending in the semifinal round of the district tournament, the Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team would probably like to have back a few games that led to their 12-17-1 season.Although the Lady Pirates had as many ups as downs this season, head coach Dina Herzog said this year’s team had to play as a team and “all” contribute, or it wasn’t going to work.

14 area players check in as the best of the best for the 2023 season in softball

The best of the best from the Boonslick area were recently selected to their respective All-District Teams in softball for the 2023 season.While Boonville and New Franklin each had five players selected to the All-District Team in Class 3 and 1, respectively, Pilot Grove finished with three players selected in Class 1 District 3 while BPH (Bunceton/Prairie Home) placed two players on the team.Of the 14 players, five were selected to the first team while six were named to the second team and three to the honorable-mention all-district team.Players selected to the all-district first team from the area were Lily Chitwood, Emersyn Eads and Brooklynn Brown of New Franklin, Kendall Rhorer of Pilot Grove, and Addison Ray of BPH.
