The Boonville Pirates football team didn’t go unnoticed when it came time to pick the top players in the Tri-County Conference for the 2023 season.Although the Pirates had a disappointing year by their standards after finishing 4-7 overall and 1-5 in the TCC, head coach Greg Hough said he truly believes the kids played hard each game.
The Boonville Pirates and Lady Pirates wrestling teams will enter the 2023-24 season with high expectations under head coach Justin Hahn. While the Pirate wrestlers finished one match under .500 for the season at 7-8-1 overall, the Lady Pirates were two matches over at 8-6-1 for the 2022-23 season. This season with a total of 44 wrestlers suited out for the upcoming season (35 boys and 9 girls), Hahn said after coming off a decent season last year and returning so many starters, the Pirates and Lady Pirates definitely have high expectations.Hahn said the key to a successful season will be keeping everyone healthy and in great shape all season.

How teams fared in Tri-County FootballFriday, Nov.
The Pilot Grove girls’ basketball team had a banner season in 2022-23 while finishing 23-6 overall and 8-2 in the CAC under head coach Grant Fricke. With 13 girls suited out for the 2023-24 season, three of which are returning starters and 10 returning letterwinners, the Lady Tigers appear to be ready to take the next step with a post-season appearance and possible run through the playoffs.“We want to reload and be ready for another 20-plus win season,” Fricke said.
The Pilot Grove boys’ basketball team is looking to the future rather than the past heading into the 2023-24 season. With first year coach Dillon Yung now at the helm after coaching the Slater Wildcats for several years, the feeling amongst the players is that Pilot Grove is back to compete night in and night out no matter who the opponent is.After falling on hard times last year at 11-17 overall and 2-8 in the CAC, Yung will have returning starters and 10 returning letterwinners to lead the charge this season.
