The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team will look to the 2022-23 season as an aberration after finishing 8-19 overall and 1-6 in the Tri-County Conference.Although the Lady Pirates started four underclassmen on the floor at times throughout the season, they were close in numerous games and got better as the season progressed.Fast forward to the 2023-24 season with 16 girls suited out and three returning full-time starters and five returning letterwinners.Second year coach Jared Runyon said the team returns a major of their statistics from last year and some young girls that got a lot of experience.
The Boonville Pirates basketball team knew that in order to take two steps forward this season, they would possibly have to take one step back in 2022-23.Although the Pirates fell to 8-19 overall and 1-6 in the Tri-County Conference last year, head coach Mark Anderson said despite the team’s struggles a year ago Boonville has a chance to have a really strong season this year.With 17 boys on the JV and varsity roster this season, Anderson said the Pirates will have an additional 12 players out for the freshmen team.
The Boonville Pirates football team recently had four players selected to the Central Missouri All-District Football Team for the 2023 season.After finishing the 2023 season at 4-7 overall and 1-5 in the Tri-County Conference, Boonville Pirates football coach Greg Hough said he feels the team was playing their best football of the year during district play.
Boonville sophomore wrestler Alivia Bottoms couldn’t have asked for a better way to open the 2023-24 season Tuesday night in the Lady Tiger Wrestling Tournament in Versailles.With a total of 21 schools participating in the tournament, Bottom overcame huge odds against a full 16 man bracket to capture first in the 125-pound weight class with a record of 4-0.No team scores were kept for the tournament.Boonville wrestling coach Justin Hahn said he felt like the tournament went well.
Beginning in 2024-25, Bunceton and Prairie Home (BPH) will join seven other schools in the newly formed Show Me Central Conference.The new conference, which was adopted by the schools’ superintendents, will include area teams such as Bunceton, Prairie Home, St.
The New Franklin boys’ and girls’ basketball team fell on the road Tuesday night against the Salisbury Panthers by the scores of 54-52 and 51-38, respectively.After finishing 1-1 last year against the Panthers, winning at home in the season opener and then losing to Salisbury in the semifinal round of the district tournament, you had a feeling that Tuesday’s game would come down to the wire.

Boonville senior Ryder Comegys knew right away where he wanted to wrestle for the next four years after completing his high school career for the Pirates’ wrestling team.Although Comegys still has his senior season to compete at Boonville, he said he decided on Central Methodist University because it is close to home and he loves the wrestling program.While signing a national letter of intent last Tuesday in the BHS Commons in front of family and friends, Comegys said his one and only goal this season is to go to state and make it to the top four.Of course, Comegys was successful in doing just that last year while competing in the heavyweight division.
