Pirates drop conference opener against Blair Oaks, 5-4

The Boonville Pirates baseball team found out the hard way what tough luck is Tuesday night in the home/conference opener against the Blair Oaks Falcons at Twillman Field in Harley Park.Although the Pirates endured tough luck over the weekend by losing two games in Jefferson City with the lead going into the final-two innings (against Fatima and Capital City), nothing prepared Boonville for the heartache Tuesday night while leading Blair Oaks 4-0 through the first-six innings only to lose 5-4.While the loss dropped Boonville to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Tri-County Conference, Blair Oaks improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.Boonville Pirates baseball coach Jerome Simpson said a loss like this is super tough not only for him but also for the boys.

Espey captures meet medalist honors in quad

The Boonville Pirates golf team finished third out of four teams Tuesday during a quadrangular at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville.Although the Pirates were only nine strokes back from first place finisher Southern Boone, Boonville golf coach Rob VanderLinden said this is a tough thing for a lot of people to understand but he was excited about the score of the team on Tuesday.
