The Boonville Pirates baseball team picked up its seventh straight win Tuesday night in the opening round of the Holden State Farm Classic by beating Midway 19-0 in five innings.The Pirates, 8-3 overall and winners of their last seven games, also out-hit Midway 15-2 with six of those going for extra bases.Boonville will play the host school in the semifinals on Wednesday, April 10, starting at 4 p.m.
Boonville Pirates C Baseball Coach William Howell used the word perplexing to describe Tuesday night’s doubleheader against the Mexico Bulldogs at the Boonville High School Baseball Field.While the Pirates won the first game in the bottom half of the fifth on a bases-loaded walk to Dylann Clark 7-6, the second game was a head scratcher as Boonville again rallied in its half of the fifth to end the game in a tie against Mexico at 4-all.“Tonight’s games were perplexing,” Howell said.
After finishing 2-0 over the weekend in a triangular against Mid-Buchanan and Salisbury, the New Franklin baseball team appeared to pick up where they left off Monday night on the road against the Smithton Tigers.While scoring 17 runs in two games on Saturday, the Bulldogs continued their barrage of hits and run against Smithton by exploding for 12 runs on 12 hits in five innings for a 12-0 victory.New Franklin coach Erich Gerding said Connor (Wilmsmeyer) did a good job attacking the zone for us.
Stella Matyas, Drake Clark and Landon Shaw all captured first-place finishes during the Salisbury Open on Tuesday.Matyas captured first in the 3200-meter run in a time of 13:52.63 while Clark finished first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.85 seconds.

The BPH (Bunceton/Prairie Home) baseball team picked up a hard-fought victory Tuesday night on the road by beating the Higbee Tigers 4-3.BPH, improving to 4-3 on the season, trailed Higbee 2-1 after the first before rallying back with one run in each of the second and third innings of play to make it 3-2.
The Boonville Pirates golf team finished third out of five teams in the Moberly Invitational Tuesday at Heritage Hills Golf Course.Hannibal captured first in the tournament with a score of 309, followed by Salisbury at 310, Boonville at 318, Kirksville at 334 and Fulton at 360.Quinn Thomas of Hannibal was the individual medalist in the tournament with a 3-under par 67.
The Boonville Pirates tennis team had what head coach Ryan Brimer called a “rough night” while dropping a 6-3 decision against the Mexico Bulldogs Tuesday night in Mexico.While recording two of the three wins in singles, Brimer said the Pirates did not play up to their potential.
