The Boonville Pirates baseball team had the best of both worlds Tuesday night on Senior Night against the California Pintos at Twillman Field in Harley Park. While honoring the five seniors and their parents prior to the game, the Pirates also picked up their 13th win of the season with an 8-4 win over California. With just one week remaining in the regular season, Boonville head coach Jerome Simpson said overall it was a pretty good game but added that his team still has to clean some things up before districts.“We came out and hit the ball and scored four runs in the first inning and then we had a lot of baserunning miscues that cost us runs in those innings,” Simpson said.
Boonville Lady Pirates soccer coach Alec Adair called Monday’s makeup game against the Fatima Comets as a “very dominant win”.Although the Lady Pirates wound up scoring only two goals in the game-both in the second half-they dominated Fatima 32-0 on shot attempts and 12-0 on shots on goal for a 2-0 victory.“This was a very dominant win for us tonight,” Adair said.
