KWRT rallies past New Franklin 10-9 in JBR

For KWRT to even think about contending for the title in Junior Babe Ruth, first they had to beat New Franklin in the first game Monday night at Twillman Field in Harley Park.With Arvidson playing Pilot Grove in the nightcap, which was another pivotal game, KWRT had to take care of business on their end and then hope that Pilot Grove pull off the upset against Arvidson.Although KWRT wound up winning against New Franklin 10-9, it took a rally in the sixth inning to get the job done.

Pirate Ridge Golf Academy teaches kids about the game of golf

“It’s all about the kids,” said Boonville Pirates golf coach Rob VanderLinden when referring to the Pirate Ridge Golf Academy.While in its eighth year at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, the Pirate Ridge Golf Academy began back in 2017 with the help of VanderLinden, Hail Ridge Superintendent Josh Black and Kim Harris, director of the Dean Caldwell Memorial Golf Tournament.“We basically got the academy going when I took over as golf coach at Boonville High School,” VanderLinden said, “and then between me, Josh Black and Kim Harris, we came up with this proposal of being able to give kids clubs and a membership.
