34 teams compete in 6th Annual Dean Caldwell Memorial Golf Tournament

The Sixth Annual Dean Caldwell Memorial Golf Tournament last Saturday at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville was more than just a golf tournament.Along with 18 holes of golf, the tournament also featured games and a chance to raise money for not only the Pirate Ridge Golf Academy but to provide scholarships to qualifying graduates of Boonville High School who golf in high school and assisted with the Academy.Kim (Caldwell) Harris, tournament director, said everything went perfectly on Saturday.

Boonville 12 All-Stars finish 2-3 in Cal Ripken State Tournament

The Boonville 12-year-old All-Stars couldn’t have asked for a better start after their two games in the Cal Ripken State Tournament Thursday at the COCOBA Ball Field.After beating Bonne Terre 20-0 in the first game, the Boonville 12 All-Stars came back in the final game Thursday night with a 7-5 win over MABA American to finish as one of only two teams with an unbeaten record after Day 1.Unfortunately for Boonville, they dropped the first game in the tournament on Friday against a good Central Ozark team 11-1.

Central Ozark edges Sikeston 1-0 in title game in 12-year-old State Tournament

Something had to give Sunday in the championship in the Cal Ripken 12-year-old State Tournament at the COCOBA Ball Field.With Central Ozark undefeated going into the championship game and Sikeston with just one loss (to Central Ozark), it came as no surprise that the two best teams in the tournament would play to a 0-0 tie for 5 ½ innings on Sunday.
