After finishing second over the weekend in the Father Tolton Invitational, the Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team returned home Tuesday night to host the Eugene Eagles in the first true match of the 2024 season.As it turned out, the Lady Pirates again had plenty to celebrate by beating Eugene in three straight sets 25-14, 25-10 and 25-22.While improving to 4-2 on the season, Boonville head coach Joedi Herzog said it was a great first home game.
After coming off a fifth place finish last Friday in the annual Boonville 3 Par Challenge, the Boonville Lady Pirates golf team knew Tuesday’s match against Southern Boone, Marshall and Fayette would be a good starting point to the season.As it turned out, the Lady Pirates not only avenged one of those losses from last week they also had the meet medalist to open the regular season at 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Tri-County Conference.Boonville golf coach Rob VanderLinden said this was a nice team victory.
The Boonville Pirates soccer team had what head coach Alec Adair call a rough start to the season Tuesday night on the road against the Clinton Cardinals.While falling 8-0 against the Cardinals, Adair said you could tell the team has a lot of youth and had some first game nerves to get out.
Up until the bottom half of the fifth Tuesday night against Hickman, the Boonville Lady Pirates softball team appeared to be well on its way to another victory while leading 3-0.But then the fifth inning happened as Hickman exploded for five runs never to look back for a 6-4 victory.While the loss dropped Boonville to 2-2 on the season, Boonville softball coach Christie Zoeller said this was a heart breaker.
