The Boonville Lady Pirates tennis team had what head coach Melissa Harvey calls another tough night in a 7-2 loss against the Higginsville Lady Huskers Tuesday at Higginsville.The Lady Pirates, dropping to 0-4 on the season, dropped two out of three doubles matches against Higginsville and five out of six singles matches on the night.“We had a lot of long rallies, but just didn’t outlast Lafeyette’s stamina,” Harvey said.

Prairie Home wins season opener in middle school basketball over Bunceton

The Prairie Home boys’ and girls’ middle school basketball teams opened the 2024 season with wins Tuesday night by beating the Bunceton Dragons 32-19 and 42-7, respectively.In the girl’s game, Prairie Home led Bunceton 22-5 at the half and then outscored the Lady Dragons 20-2 in the second half.Avery Sullard led the scoring attack in the game for Prairie Home with 11 points while Brielle Brielle chipped in 10, Ruth Hodges with nine, An’Maya Henderson with six and Jamieson Morrow, Brooklynn Adams and Grace King each with two.

Prairie Home improves to 4-3 with 11-0 win over Tuscumbia

The Prairie Home baseball team scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back, beating the Tuscumbia Lions 11-0 in five innings Tuesday night in Tuscumbia.The Panthers, improving to 4-3 on the season, opened the game with two runs in the first and then sent one run across in the second, two again in the third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth to win by the run rule.Prairie Home coach Jacob Clevenger said Carter Pethan had a great outing on the mound.
