It’s no secret that the Boonville-Blair Oaks football series has been lopsided since the two teams starting playing each other back in 2018.Since Boonville’s first season in the Tri-County Conference, Blair Oaks has dominated the series 7-1 with the Pirates lone win coming in 2021 by a score of 41-35.
With over 480 runners from 36 schools in high school and middle school competing Tuesday in the annual Boonville Cross-Country Invitational at Kemper Park, it didn’t come as a surprise that Boonville would have one of its best meets of the season on their home course.
The LSE and New Franklin boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams had great success Tuesday during the annual Boonville Cross-Country Invitational at Kemper Park.While competing against a total of 159 runners, the Pirates and Lady Pirates finished with a total of four runners in the top 16 while New Franklin had six runners in the top 20.“Our home meet turned out to be a great success despite dealing with quite a bit of rain during the days prior to the race,” said LSE coach Nathan McFail.
The Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team had their chances Tuesday night on the road against the Fatima Comets.After going up 2-1 in the match, the Lady Pirates dropped the next-two sets and the match 25-23, 27-29, 25-23, 18-25 and 14-16 for their fifth straight loss to fall to 5-9 on the season.Despite the loss, Boonville volleyball coach Joedi Herzog said the girls played so well tonight.
After scoring two runs in the bottom half of the first Tuesday night against Battle at the Boonville High School Ball Field, the Boonville Lady Pirates softball team probably had to think their chances of winning the game were as good.But then the fourth inning happened as Battle exploded for four runs never to look back for a 5-3 victory.While the loss dropped Boonville to 6-9 on the season, head coach Christie Zoeller said the focus at this point in the season is finding a way to produce at the plate.
The Boonville Lady Pirates golf team finished fifth out of 13 teams Tuesday while competing in the California Invitational at California Country Club.In the final team standings, California finished first with a team score of 368 while Blair Oaks took second with a score of 380, followed by Stover at 387, Osage at 406 and Boonville at 413.California also had the top golfer in the tournament, with Anna Boyd finishing with a 9-over par 72 for 18 holes.
