Boonville junior golfer Karagyn Cooper made history Tuesday during the second day of the Class 2 Missouri State Golf Championships at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa.After finishing in the top 10 on Monday during the opening round with a 14-over par 85 with six pars and 10 bogeys, Cooper came back on Tuesday to shoot a score of 94 with two pars and 10 bogeys for a two-day score of 179 to place 11th overall.Boonville Lady Pirates golf coach Rob VanderLinden said by finishing 11th out of 91 golfers, Cooper not only medaled at state (a first in Boonville Lady Pirates golf history) but she also earned all-state for the 2024 season.“Day 2 of the tournament brought much tougher conditions than Day 1,” VanderLinden said.

With the district meet just two weeks away, the Boonville boys’ and girls’ cross-country team wanted nothing more than to make a statement Tuesday during the Mexico Autumn Classic.With 59 runners competing in the boy’s division and 51 in the girls, Boonville head coach Melissa Baker said the Mexico Autumn Classic was the best meet to date so far this season for these runners.
It came as no surprise that New Franklin senior Brynn Belstle was selected as the Most Valuable Player in the Central Activities Conference for the 2024 season.After all, Belstle is one of the reasons why the Lady Bulldogs finished the season at 20-5 overall and 7-0 in the CAC.
Boonville Pirates soccer coach Alec Adair said MMA (Missouri Military Academy) is ranked fifth in the state in Class 1 for a reason this season.Along with being an extremely talented team, Adair said MMA also had great technical ability and great speed.
