The New Franklin boys’ middle school basketball team captured the championship in the CAC Tournament Tuesday night at Community R-6 by beating the Pilot Grove Tigers 33-30.In other games in the CAC Tournament on Tuesday, Pilot Grove defeated New Franklin 20-14 in the fifth-place game.The New Franklin boys, 8-0 on the season, led Pilot Grove 11-5 after first period’s end but was outscored 8-5 in the second to make it 16-13.

The Bunceton boys’ middle school basketball team played High Point close for the entire game but came out on the short end Tuesday night in Bunceton 37-33.The Dragons, dropping to 2-12 on the season, trailed High Point by just one (10-9) after first period’s end and were outscored 7-6 in the second quarter to go in down by two at 17-15.
